After graduating with a BS in Accounting from West Texas State University, David worked in a regional accounting firm in Amarillo, TX doing both audit and tax as a CPA before moving to Dallas, TX where he left public accounting for the CFO track. Across 30 years as a CFO, David has enjoyed a wide variety of experiences, from leading IPOs and successful turnarounds to leading an international public company during the advent of SOX (NASDAQ:TGIS). In 2007, David became CFO for Ryan, LLC, tripling the company’s growth over nine years to $450MM and 2,000 employees across 14 countries. In 2015, David decided to jump to the private equity world. He has now completed two successful exits in the software space, most recently with Parthenon Capital in Austin, TX. Upon successful exit in August 2021, Parthenon tapped David for another leadership role; soon afterwards Choreo became a reality.
David has been key to over 20 acquisitions and integrations over a 6-year span, ranging from 1-person sole proprietorships to a 600-person carve out from Thomson Reuters.
David and his wife are enjoying an empty nest in the Tampa, FL area. They have a daughter who graduated from Clemson and lives in Charlotte, NC teaching 3rd grade, and a son who graduated from Baylor and is now working in commercial banking in Philadelphia. David plays four instruments, enjoys outdoor activities like biking and boating, and one day intends to form the world’s greatest 70s-80s cover band.
